Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day – New Bedford and Dartmouth residents only (ID required). 25 gal. or 25 lb maximum. No latex paints.
The Greater New Bedford Refuse District is holding its spring Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day on Saturday, April 27th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Crapo Hill Landfill, 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard.
The event is open to New Bedford and Dartmouth residents only. Proof of residency is required.
EXAMPLES OF WHAT TO BRING: oil-based paint, paint strippers, thinners, solvents, stains and varnishes, lighter fluid, waste fuels (kerosene, gas), engine degreaser, carburetor cleaner and brake or transmission fluid.
EXAMPLES OF WHAT NOT TO BRING: latex paint (dry out and throw in trash), ammunition, fireworks, explosives, infectious & biological wastes and empty aerosol cans (recycle at the Shawmut Avenue Transfer Station).
The household hazardous waste should be in original labeled containers. In order to avoid spillage, containers should be packed in sturdy upright boxes and padded with newspaper. Residents should not mix any of the chemicals together.
To get to the site, take Route 140, Exit 7 (Braley Road). If you drove north on Route 140, turn left off the ramp. If you drove south on Route 140, take a right off the ramp. Proceed into the New Bedford Business Park. Take the first left onto Duchaine Blvd. and the first right onto Samuel Barnet Blvd. Travel 1.2 miles to the site. There will be NO collection at the Town of Dartmouth Transfer Station or New Bedford Shawmut Avenue Transfer Station.
The District reserves the right to refuse unidentified materials and large amounts of hazardous waste. The maximum amount of waste that you can bring is twenty-five gallons or twenty-five pounds. Collection is for households only; it is not for businesses, schools, or contractors.
