Environmental Police Arrest 6 For Illegal ATV Ride Incident

Massachusetts Environmental Police have charged six men in connection with ATV arrest on Halloween night where a New Bedford Police officer was struck by a dirt bike.

New Bedford Police say Environmental Police Officers observed roughly 40 to 50 bikes “riding on public ways in the city, endangering pedestrians, impeding the flow of traffic and disturbing the peace.”

The suspects have been identified as:

47-year-old Pablo Medina who is being charged with Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Marked lanes violation, Red light violation, Motorcycle passing motor vehicle in same lane, Illegal u-turn, Stop sign/flashing red light violation, Disorderly conduct, Causing gridlock, and Speed greater than reasonable.

37-year-old Jorge Sousa who is being charged with Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Marked lanes violation, Red light violation, Motorcycle lane violation, Illegal u-turn, Stop sign/flashing red light violation, Disorderly conduct, Causing gridlock, and Speed greater than reasonable.

18-year-old Jose G. Santiago who is being charged with Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Leaving the scene of property damage, Disorderly conduct, Marked lanes violation, Red light violation, Motorcycle lane violation, Illegal u-turn, Stop sign/flashing red light violation, Blocking intersection, Motorized scooter operation with no helmet, Motorized scooter operation with no permit/license, and Speed greater than reasonable.

21-year-old Travis J. Evora who is being charged with Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Marked lanes violation, Red light violation, Motorcycle lanes violation
Illegal u-turn, Stop sign/flashing red light violation, Disorderly conduct, Blocking intersection, Speed greater than reasonable, and Operating a motorcycle in violation of a license class.

24-year-old Kevin B. Barry Jr. who is being charged with Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Marked lanes violation, Red light violation, Motorcycle passing motor vehicle in same lane, Illegal u-turn, Stop sign/flashing red light violation, Disorderly conduct, Causing gridlock, and Speed greater than reasonable.

55-year-old David Joseph who is being charged with Negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Marked lanes violation, Red light violation, Motorcycle passing motor vehicle in same lane, Illegal u-turn, Stop sign/flashing red light violation, Disorderly conduct, Causing gridlock, and Speed greater than reasonable.

All of the suspects are identified as New Bedford residents except for Joseph who is listed as a resident of Fairhaven.

Ten adults from New Bedford outside were previously arrested by New Bedford Police at the former Flagship Cinemas, located 500 Kings Highway, where the riders had congregated.

The incident remains under investigation.
