If you're losing zzz's this may be the reason why. Doctors have determined that looking at a digital device before bed is detrimental to your sleep.

Statistics show that 95% of people stare at some type of screen an hour before bed. I am guilty of this too and it's not an easy habit to break.

Professionals say that technology before bed is not a good idea. 85% of Americans say that they have a hard time falling asleep at night on a regular basis and doctors suspect that this may be the reason why.

Dr. Charles Czeisler, who is the Chief of Sleep Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, spoke to NBC Nightly News about the lack-of-sleep epidemic.

Czeisler reveals that the light from our digital devices is tricking the brain into “what we interpret as sunset.” Our brains think the light from your gadget is daylight and blocks the melatonin, which promotes sleep.

There are significant health consequences to a constant lack of sleep, such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and depression.

Many doctors say that you should shut off your screen at least one hour before bed. Experts suggest that you keep the technology out of the bedroom and stick to books only.
