FALL RIVER - An elderly woman has died following an early morning fire in her Fall River home.

According to the Herald News, the 74-year-old woman was found in her bed as firefighters battled the two-alarm fire at 47 Orswell Street a little after 3 a.m Sunday.

Firefighters had a tough time navigating through the three story home, as they say it was cluttered and they were afraid the floor was going to give away under the excess weight.

The woman's name has not been released.

A firefighter was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. He has been released. The fire was under control by 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
