A popular deli and butcher shop is closing in Fairhaven.  While EJ's Restaurant and Bar will remain open, the deli and butcher shop will be closing with the new year.  Manager Justin Braun says that he is working with the owners on new plans for the space and that the changes will not affect the restaurant and bar portion of the business.

While we are not excited about the closing of the market, we are very excited about the opportunity that the space presents with regard to expanding the restaurant and bar operations.  The plans are not finalized as of yet, but our goal is to create a gathering space with a fresh, al fresco feel to it.  We envision bistro tables and patio-style sofas welcoming our guests to a refreshing setting offering lighter fare and cocktail selections from our full bar.  This will be the ideal setting for future beer dinners, after work gatherings, private events and live entertainment. --Justin Braun, EJ's Manager

EJ's opened their new facility towards the tail end of the summer of 2014.  The butcher shop was known for their premium cuts of meat.  Their smokehouse steak tips became known as the "Michael Rock" steak tips because I ordered them so often.

The New York deli had recently branched out to include prepared meals and side dishes.

Employees at the deli were surprised to learn of the closing. One worker told me that holiday orders were up from 6 last year to over 50 this year. "Everyone is asking...how will I get my steak tips and chicken." As far as finding a new job, he was optimistic. He said he had a few opportunities he was considering.
