Drunk Driver Crashes Into Wareham Police Cruiser

WAREHAM - A drunk driver in Wareham is under arrest after crashing into a police cruiser.

The accident happened early Friday morning when police say the driver, 23-year-old Sean McCrillis of Wareham, was headed north on Route 28 at 12:30 a.m. and took a left turn to pull into the parking lot of Shenanigan's Bar and Grill. While crossing the southbound lanes, McCrillis' car collided with a Wareham Police cruiser driven by Officer Peter Silvia. Silvia received minor injuries from the crash and was transported to Tobey Hospital for medical evaluation.

McCrillis was arrested at the scene and is charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

McCrillis is being arraigned today in Wareham District Court.
