If you thought you could put away your snow shovel, think again. The National Weather Service says that a long duration snow event begins late tonight and will last through Monday night for much of the region, as heavy accumulations are expected yet again.

In Massachusetts, Southern Bristol, Plymouth, and Barnstable Counties as well as Washington and Newport Counties in Rhode Island are under a Winter Weather Watch from Sunday morning through Monday night. Four to eight inches of snow, with a possible mixture of sleet and freezing rain, are expected. The heaviest snowfall will likely occur Sunday night into Monday night.

Temperatures will hover around the low 30s and winds will blow out of the northeast at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

This bout of weather could result in dangerous driving conditions with visibility expected at a half mile or less. If you plan to travel in the next 24 to 36 hours, you should be prepared to modify your plans should the weather develop.
