New Bedford police raided an apartment on North Front Street this week and found more than just drugs.

On Monday night, New Bedford police raided an apartment at 315 North Front Street looking for drugs, but ended up discovering two pitbulls living in what animal control called 'deplorable conditions' as well.

According to the Standard Times, police reported feces being found "up and down the stairs" leading up to the third floor where the dogs were being kept in a hallway.

24-year-old Ramon Sanchez was arrested at the apartment after detectives from New Bedford's Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau found four ounces of marijuana and $370 in cash as well as the neglected dogs.

Sanchez faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, subsequent offense and animal cruelty because of the way the dogs were being kept.
