Dartmouth Woman Accused in Florida Murder Ordered Held Without Bail

NEW BEDFORD — Desiree Tedder, the Dartmouth woman charged with second-degree murder in Florida, was ordered held without bail today in New Bedford District Court.

Gregg Miliote, spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, tells WBSM News that Tedder's defense refused to waive rendition on Wednesday. That means Florida officials now have 30 days to pick her up for her to stand trial in their state.

Florida State Attorney Bill Eddins said last week that Tedder's murder charge will be upgraded to first degree once she's indicted in that state.

Miliote says Florida officials will either have to apply for a governor's warrant to force her rendition, or work within the interstate compact to get her back.

"It's all technical stuff, really," Miliote said. "She will essentially be held until she gets sent back to Florida."

The 23-year-old is charged with second-degree murder of 23-year-old Drulmauert Mims. Mims had gone missing March 29, and his body was found buried in the backyard of a home in Warrington, Florida last week. Police arrested her in Dartmouth last Wednesday, and she was booked at the New Bedford police station on a fugitive from justice warrant.
