Dartmouth Police: Drugged Driver Crashes Van Near Child Daycare Center

DARTMOUTH - A New Bedford man, allegedly high on drugs, is under arrest after crashing his van near a daycare center in Dartmouth.

First responders were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash at 5 Russells Mills Road around 2:15 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, police found a 2006 Dodge Caravan resting against a tree in close proximity to the Crayon Campus daycare facility.

Police saw that the male driver was unresponsive behind the wheel. EMS personnel administered Narcan, reviving the driver, 46-year-old Glenroy Hensley of New Bedford, who was transported to St. Luke's Hospital.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a pill believed to be Klonopin, as well as a Suboxone strip.

Hensley was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license, marked lanes violation, possession of a Class B drug, and possession of a Class C drug.

Hensley also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Fall River District Court for drug related offenses.

No other injuries were reported.
