A day after being cut by the Miami Dolphins, former Dartmouth High School standout Arthur Lynch has been claimed off waivers by the New York Jets.

Lynch, a fifth round pick in last year's draft out of Georgia, spent all of last season on Miami's Injured Reserve with a serious back injury.

The 6-5, 255 pounder struggled to break through as a top target for the Dolphins early in training camp and therefore became expendable.

The tight end, who is viewed as a strong blocker that needs work in the passing game, will now be forced to adjust to a new team and make enough of a splash within the next few weeks in both preseason games and practice to try and solidify a roster spot before the team's final camp cuts.

While struggling to define his role in the NFL thus far, Lynch succeeded in his time at Georgia, snagging 56 catches for just over 900 yards and eight scores.
