BOSTON - Senate Assistant Majority Leader and Rules Committee Chairman Mark C. Montigny (D-New Bedford) is pleased to announce that several local municipalities have been awarded state funding to complete wastewater and drinking water projects.  The funding, totaling, $130,981, will assist Dartmouth and Fairhaven through the Commonwealth’s Gap II Energy Efficiency Water/Wastewater Grant Program.

The program provides technical and financial assistance for implementing energy-saving projects at municipal drinking water and wastewater facilities through a joint collaboration with MassDEP, DOER, and MassCEC.  This year 48 applications were submitted for consideration, with 36 municipalities awarded funding.

The Town of Dartmouth will receive $107,057 for pumping system optimization to municipal drinking water wells, a boiler replacement, and installation of three emergency generator block heaters at the wastewater treatment plant.  Projected savings from this project are estimated $83,509.

The Town of Fairhaven will receive $23,924 to install upgrades and a new heat pump system to the existing emergency generator at the wastewater plant.  Projected savings from this project are estimated at $12,038.
