Daredevil and tightrope walker Nik Wallenda crossed 1,500 feet above the Little Colorado River Gorge near the Grand Canyon in Arizona on Sunday.

Wallenda successfully traversed the 1,400 foot gap between the cliffs. The feat was televised on Discovery Channel in a special entitled, Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda.

Wallenda, the 34-year-old so called "King of the High Wire", walked on the two-inch wire with no harness or net. The canyon crossing came a year after he braved the pass over Niagara Falls from Canada to the United States. He did wear a safety harness for that crossing and it aired on ABC.

As he neared the end of Sunday's feat, he paused to blow his family a kiss and give them a thumbs-up. After 22 minutes of tension, Wallenda completed the stunt and hugged his family.

Wallenda prayed during the challenge asking Jesus to "calm his wire" and "calm the winds", which he said were "way worse" than he expected.
