DA Identifies Victim In Crash Involving Police Cruiser
A crash involving a dirt bike and a Fall River Police cruiser leaves one man dead.
Gregg Miliote, Director of Communications, for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office says that a preliminary investigation indicates that at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday three police cruisers were travelling on Slade St. with their emergency lights on as they responded to a call in the south end of the city.
The second cruiser was driving through the intersection with Montaup St. when it was struck in the front passenger door area by a dirt bike.
The bike's driver, identified as 19-year-old Rafael Cordeiro of Fall River, was taken to St. Anne's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Miliote says the bike, identified as a 2006 Yamaha YZ85, was unregistered and didn't have front lamps.
The incident remains under investigation.
