Crime Sweep Leads to 15 Arrests in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police narcotics and gang units made three drugs arrests at one location, and 12 other arrests, as part of a sweep targeting street-level crime in the city's North End.

A search warrant was executed as part of an investigation into a narcotics distribution service out of 179 Brook Street, Apartment 1. A small amount of cocaine, 11 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, six rounds of .22 caliber ammunition, packaging materials and $520 were found at the location.

Police made the following arrests:

--Neilson Lopes, 24, 179 Brook St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, possession of class B substance with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition.

--Anibal Edmando Orrico, 32, 179 Brook St., basement apartment, two warrant arrests.

--Nicholas Lopes, 20, 179 Brook St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, possession of class B substance with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Other arrests made in connection with the enforcement were:

--Pedro Luiz Velazquez, 37, 10 Salisbury St., New Bedford, possession of class B substance (Fentanyl) subsequent offense and warrant arrest. He was previously convicted in October 2013 of possession of class B substance.

--Tiffany M. Silva, 33, of 510 South Second St., Apt. 2, New Bedford, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

--Brian E. Motta, 36, of 713 Belleville Ave., New Bedford, warrant arrest.

--Karari Jenkins, 27, of 5 Cleaves St., Roxbury, two warrant arrests.

--Kristopher Frates, 4 Wright Blvd., Lakeville, possession of open container of alcohol.

--Daniel Dondie Darosa, 22, 181 Ashley Blvd. Apt. 2, New Bedford, two warrant arrests.

--Carla Rosado, 29, 181 Ashley Blvd. Apt. 2, New Bedford, warrant arrest.

--Tara A. Rebello, 34, 39 Roosevelt St. Apt. 3N, New Bedford, warrant arrest.

--Luke Anthony Raffa, 35, 164 Richmond St. Apt. 1, New Bedford, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

--Dean P. Silveira, 47, 165 Tinkham St. Apt 3rd, New Bedford, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

--Female juvenile, 13, six warrant arrests.

--Danielle Lee Costa, 31, 9 Williams St., Acushnet, sexual conduct for a fee, resisting arrest.
