A fisherman onboard a New Bedford based vessel was medevaced Saturday night.

The U.S. Coast Guard says they received a call from the fishing boat Illusion, which was about 30 miles east of Nantucket, reporting that a crewmember suffered a severe hand laceration and needed immediate medical attention.

A response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Chatham launched with two fire department EMTs aboard to rendezvous with Illusion at the entrance of Great Round Shoal.

The man was trasferred to the Coast Guard boat and EMTs cared for the man while he was taken to Saquatucket Harbor where emergency medical services personnel were waiting.
