As I was driving around earlier, I saw some cranberries being harvested and that made me very excited for Cranberry Sauce! The first cranberry sauce was marketed in 1912. Americans consume some 400 million pounds of cranberries a year, 20 percent during Thanksgiving week. Americans consume 5,062,500 gallons of jellied cranberry sauce every holiday season.

Cranberry sauce is a major side and a must have dish for Thanksgiving but their a few different styles. Some people prefer jellied, especially older people. I enjoy jellied because that's what I was served growing up.Right out of the can, with its classic "plop" into the bowl and sliced into rounds.

It's fast, easy, and convenient. With the war on processed food on-going, I now see a lot of people preferring home-made or at least the canned whole berry cranberry sauce. We have fresh cranberries readily available, its easy to make your own!I mean we do live in Massachusetts.

As of 2009, Wisconsin was the largest producer of cranberries. Massachusetts is a close second. What is your favorite style of cranberry sauce? Do you have a simple homemade cranberry sauce recipe?
