Yes, someones grand scheme was to produce counterfeit ketchup. According to Yahoo, a factory filled with exploded bottles of ketchup was discovered. As it turns out, someone was trying to rip people off with fake ketchup.

The factory in New Jersey was uncovered after neighbors complained about the smell. As it turns out, whoever was storing the ketchup had abandoned it in a hot building, causing the bottles to explode.

A Heinz representative said that someone was buying large quantities of regular Heinz, and putting them into 'Simply Heinz' bottles - a more expensive product.

It's a good thing they discovered this operation, or our french fries would suffer.
