Durfee is planning on some extreme renovations!

Durfee is ready for a change. The building committee wants all proposals by Oct. 25, which will give members time to review before they meet with the Massachusetts School Building Authority in mid-November.

Herald News has said, the designer should design a schematic of what a new or renovated Durfee might look like. The designer will work with LeftField to determine if the present Durfee site is the best option or if another site in the city is better.

According to Herald News archives, the feasibility period is expected to continue until the fall of 2017. Last year, the City Council approved a $1 million allocation for the study, which is expected to cost roughly $900,000. Once that study is completed, the city is expected to receive a roughly 80 percent reimbursement. The city’s net financial obligation after the reimbursement would be around $180,000, officials said.
