Here on land all we seem to see these days is snow. But with the freezing cold temperatures across the Southcoast, fisherman have been hit hard with ice as well.

Yesterday the National Guard came to town to help with snow removal. But along with the congested streets are the packed waterfronts and now the Coast Guard is here to help too.

Dozens of ships and boats are frozen in place as the temperatures remain below freezing and a lot of people are unable to work because of it. Luckily today a 175-foot Coast Guard cutter, which specializes in ice breaking, arrived today to try and get fishing vessels and others moving freely once again.

Things are so frozen over out there that therealcape.com reported you could actually walk out to Cape Cod from New Bedford right now. Not that I'd test that theory!
