NEW BEDFORD — The citywide Snow Emergency Parking Ban, which went into effect this afternoon, was lifted as of 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 21.

A Winter Storm Warning for the New Bedford area had previously indicated up to 10 inches of snow accumulation in Southeastern Massachusetts, including New Bedford. Significant variations in weather forecasts led to the declaration of a parking ban for Wednesday, but changes to the forecast and projected snow accumulation no longer necessitate a parking ban.

City offices will remain open tomorrow, including City Hall, libraries, senior centers, and the Buttonwood Park Zoo. However, senior centers have cancelled activities and transportation for Thursday.

Residents should remove their vehicles from municipal and school parking lots with the parking ban being lifted, to ensure these lots are able to be cleared in the event of some snow accumulation.
