Circus Accident Leaves Performers In Critical Condition In Providence [UPDATE]

A tight rope snapped and people are in critical condition at the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence RI

The circus has been cancelled for the duration of the weekend.

The Providence Journal reports that several people were injured and the performance was  canceled after the accident. They also reported that several aerial performers fell to the ground, and that emergency personnel responded right at center ring.

Other reports indicate that up to 9 people have been seriously injured None of the injuries appear to be life threatening at this time.

UPDATE: Both shows for Monday have also been cancelled. The cause of the collapse was a snapped clamp. 2 out of the 9 performers remain in critical condition.
