Now that casino talk has survived Election Day, millions of dollars in gambling money is set to finally grace the state of Massachusetts.

According to the Eagle Tribune, casino cash will start helping fund local improvements in all parts of the state.

MGM Resorts International says it will make its first payments to Springfield, Mass. under an agreement negotiated for its $800 million development.

MGM must also pay more than $1.5 million by Dec. 6 to eight surrounding cities and towns, under separate deals reached with those communities.

And on Monday, MGM made a required $85 million payment to the state for its 15-year gambling license.

Hopefully this will start the cash snowball rolling to New Bedford down the road.
