Casino Agreement Vote Is Tuesday

Voters in New Bedford will make a major decision on Tuesday; whether or not to accept the Host Community Agreement negotiated by the City of New Bedford, and casino developers KG Urban Enterprises.

The polls are opening at 7am.  Election Commission Chair Maria Tomasia is predicting a turnout of about 30%.

If the agreement is approved, Kg Urban will be allowed to continue the process to make a case before the Mass. Gaming Commission that their proposal for a waterfront casino in New Bedford is a good bet for the city and the Commonwealth.

The Gaming Commission is expected to award the Region C (Southeastern Massachusetts) license later this year.  Brockton is also competing for the Region C license
