Early Thursday morning a masked-man walked into the 7-Eleven store on Rockdale Ave in New Bedford with what appeared to be a gun and asked for money.  After getting cash, the man drove-off in his Toyota Avalon just as police cruiser showed up.

There was a high-speed chase across a few blocks of New Bedford before 31-year-old Aaron Brito of New Bedford, according to police, crashed his car on Cornell Street.   That's when the foot chase across several back yards began.  Cops caught Brito and a young woman hiding behind a shed in one of the yards on Westview Street.   She is identified as 22-year-old Marranda Marin of Hyannis, and was apparently waiting in the car when the robbery happened.

The cops recovered the stolen cash and arrested both Brito and Marin.   He is charged with armed robbery while masked, leaving the scene of an accident after causing property damage and driving to endanger.  Maris is charged with accessory after the fact to armed robbery.
