Last Friday, a California man who was abandoned as a baby reunited with the Santa Ana police officer that rescued him nearly 25 years ago, and later with his biological father after seeing the reports on LA's KTLA 5.

As a newborn, Robin Barton was left near a dumpster and later found by retired police officer, Michael Buelna, which ultimately led to his survival. "I'm extremely grateful. Not just for him but to his wife, as well, and to everyone else that was involved in me being saved that evening," Barton told KTLA.

After Barton’s father, Marcos Meza, saw reports of his son’s reunion with the officer that saved his life, he reached out to LA’s KABC 7 and local police for help in reconnecting him with his son.

"There are a myriad of feelings between shock, happiness, amazement, etc," Barton told KTLA. And come to find out, Barton had five sisters that he had the opportunity to meet as well.

Meza said he wasn’t aware that Barton had been abandoned until being questioned by police. Barton’s mother was imprisoned for three years after being charged with child endangerment and attempted murder after abandoning him near the dumpster.

According to KABC and ABC News, Barton doesn’t blame his mother for what happened, "I forgive her because she was a young woman in a very compromising position." He now has plans to meet with his mother sometime soon, who now lives in Mexico.
