An update on the Buttonwood Park Zoo elephant who escaped during the blizzard earlier this month. According to the Standard Times, two Buttonwood Park zookeepers have been disciplined for forgetting to lock the elephant's barn door. Ruth the elephant managed to escape the barn and was exposed to the extreme cold. She suffered hypothermia and frostbite, and initially refused to eat or drink.

The Buttonwood Park Zoo says one of the zookeepers has been fired and the other suspended without pay following the incident.
