Just after the New England Patriots wrapped up their third straight mandatory mini-camp practice session, ESPN's Adam Schefter took to twitter to drop a bomb on Patriot Nation; wide receiver Julian Edelman, who is working his way back from and ACL tear, is facing a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on PED use.

According to Schefter and his colleague Field Yates, the suspension, which would sideline Edelman for the first month of the season, is under appeal.

Edelman, who is 32 years old, participated in the team's mandatory mini-camp practices this week and, by all accounts, looked to be progressing well.

If the suspension holds up, Edelman will still be able to participate in the team's offseason and preseason work load. He would, however, be unavailable for New England's first four games, which includes two home games against the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins and road games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions.

It is notable, at this point, to point out that Edelman has become somewhat of a disciple of Tom Brady's personal trainer Alex Guerrero.

Edelman is the first player to be popped for PEDs under Guerrero's watch. Guerrero, though he does have Brady as a true believer in his corner, does have a checkered past, in terms of his medical background. His non-conventional approach to medical treatment has drawn the ire of plenty of people in the medical world.
