U.S. District Court Judge Richard M. Berman has announced that Monday's final attempt at a settlement agreement between New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the NFL has failed to succeed, according to ESPN.

Berman had ordered Brady and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to court today to engage in one last effort to reach a settlement agreement before the judge, himself, made a final ruling.

Since the case had been brought to Berman, he had urged the two sides to settle the dispute themselves. Instead, he said he will now rule on the appeal and will likely have a decision in the next few days.
