Imagine a quarterback for the New Bedford Whalers.  The kid is good.  Real good.  He's not the best natural athlete, but has a work ethic that'd make Larry Bird look lazy.  He goes to Ohio State on a scholarship, but plays backup quarterback for his first two years before finally getting a shot, then constantly fights to maintain that starting position for the remainder of his college career.

After college, imagine this New Bedford Whaler was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round...overlooked by every team six times over...but drafted nonetheless.  He'd sit and watch their franchise quarterback lead a mediocre team...before a brutal hit inserts him into a game.  Then, all he did was win...leading the Niners to a Super Bowl win.  Then another.  And another.  And, yup...another.  Somehow this kid from New Bedford becomes what would be known as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time).  He's been a Super Bowl MVP...he's dominated the league in every stat imaginable...but there was still ONE thing this kid from New Beige still hasn't done.  He hasn't played a single NFL game at Gillette Stadium.

By now, I think you know where I'm going with this.  Somehow, someway, with all his achievements and accomplishments, Tom Brady has never played a profession football game in his hometown of San Francisco.  As a young boy, he and his dad would travel to Candlestick Park from the San Francisco suburb of San Mateo.  Brady says he idolized Joe Montana.  He was the only man other than Terry Bradshaw to win 4 Super Bowls.  Little Tom Brady probably pretended to play out a million game winning drives in the backyard of his home on Portola Drive, but he probably never imagined he'd ever play in a REAL Super Bowl (never mind SIX).

No, there aren't many things that Tom Brady hasn't done in this league.  And this weekend, after all of these years, he can finally check off one more box.  Playing in front of his hometown crowd.  Brady's ticket request list for friends and family will be long this weekend.
