A 15-year-old boy was rescued by a state trooper from Fall River after falling through the ice near Britland park this afternoon.

WPRI-12 reported that the teen fell through the ice close to the Fall River police station around 4:30 Friday afternoon when he tried to get a soccer ball that was stuck.

Though the teen's friends were with him, they were unable to pull him out of the water on their own.

Police told WPRI-12 that the boy was neck deep in the frigid water when he was rescued by a Massachusetts State Trooper the teens were able to flag down.

That trooper was later identified as Kyle Duarte.

The boy was reportedly red when he was taken out of the water, but Trooper Duarte wrapped him in a blanket to warm him up.

The teen was taken to St Anne's hospital as a precaution, but was expected to be fine.
