MATTAPOISETT - A Bourne woman is dead following an early morning crash on I-195 in Mattapoisett.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday on I-195 East in Mattapoisett. Upon arrival at the scene, State Police found that a single vehicle had crashed into a tree, killing the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation reveals that, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Camry, left the roadway, striking a tree. The driver, a 38-year-old Bourne woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.
