Active families make for happy families. How happy is your family?According to Outside magazine, Jathan and I are very happy because we live about an hour or so from Boston, Mass.

Outside compiled city data such as "access to large urban parks, trail networks, waterways, ski mountains, and other wild spaces" along with affordability of raising a child, and the percentage of children under 18 to determine the top ten cities for active families.

Did you know that Boston parks make up 15 percent of green space in the city? Franklin Park, the largest city park encompasses 527 acres. Even I didn't realize how much there is to do and see in this park. Your children won't be disappointed when they attend the Thomas Island Outward Bound Education Center. The varied outdoor activities are sure to catch the interest any child.

Last but not least, the family can escape to "the Berkshires, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the beaches of the Cape and North Shore" if you run out of things to do. Now it would seem the quandary is where to start!
