There's an exciting and different kind of 5K coming to Fall River and The BOLD (Building Our Lives Drug-Free)  Coalition is looking for participants and volunteers to help out with the color run!

What's a color run, you might ask? It's an untimed event that focuses on the coalition itself rather than a competition where the runners are showered with colored powder, made of food-grade corn starch, at different stations throughout the run.

According to the BOLD Coalition, this 5k color run is "the first event of its kind in the Greater Fall River area."

The course will be taking place in the northern end of Fall River, at the Comfort Inn located at 360 Airport Road.

Following the race, when all runners/walkers have finished, a festival highlighted with music, food and photo opportunities will take place. Party on with great music provided by Local DJ RM (Ryan Machado) and MC'd by Fun 107's Gazelle.

"By the end of the day, participants' shirts will be unique and everyone who joins in on the fun will be leaving people with a positive piece of our community. " -BOLD Coalition

The event hopes to attract local youth, families and organizations to a fun event that emphasizes health and community awareness.

If you would like to run registration is $25.00 and can be done online here:

Last but not least, the important part of the race, the volunteers... without them there would be no race. Participants are desperately needed for a smooth and successful event. If you would like to volunteer please email me (Theresa Kelliher) or Nic Charest at tkelliher@sstar.org or ncharest@sstar.org

Examples of volunteer tasks include: set up/clean up, throwing color along the route, directing traffic, passing out swag bags.
