Bigger iPad Screens Coming

Apple is testing larger screens for iPhones and tablets.  Recently, Apple asked their Asian suppliers for prototype smartphone screens larger than 4 inches and also asked for screen designs for a new tablet slightly less that 13 inches diagonally.  The current iPhone 5 has a four-inch screen and the iPad has a 9.7-inch screen.

Whether the designs will make their way to the market is unclear.  Apple routinely tests different designs for it's products as it refines them for the marketplace.   The tests with suppliers seem to suggest that Apple is exploring ways to capture different customer needs.   Many competitors offer tables and phones in different sizes.
