The New Bedford Bay Sox earned a spot in the playoffs with a 1-0 win over the Ocean State Waves Tuesday night.

Mike Gelinas, the team's Communications Director, told WBSM News that Brandon Schlimm and Darrien Ragins put in a strong pitching performance that helped the team be victorious.

As they begin their first series with the Mystic Schooners Gelinas says that if they can continue with the solid pitching and hitting he likes their chances.

"I think our pitching will really help us out in the playoffs, we have a couple of other strong pitchers and if our bullpen comes through as well we're going to have a good, good stretch here," said Gelinas.

While praising the pitching and the defensive playing Gelinas also says that they're also seeing some great work from the team's batters.

"The bats are coming alive a little bit here so I think we really have a good push forward here and I think we can really do it," said Gelinas "this team has really come together here in the second half of the season."

The team begins their playoff series Wednesday night in a game against the Schooners that begins at 6:05 p.m. in Mystic.

Game two will take place Thursday night at Paul Walsh field at 6:30 p.m.
