The "Day of Infamy" that thrust the United States into the throws of World War II took it's place in history 75 years ago Wednesday.

Battleship Cove in Fall River marks the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor every December 7, and Executive Director John McDonagh tells WBSM News the floating museum has a special obligation to appropriately remember that day. "Our battleship is of the same type that were destroyed in the attack on Pearl Harbor. And we have a very strong connection, and continue to enjoy those connections with the Navy and the military," said McDonagh.

The museum boasts several WWII era vessels that saw action during the war. "When you have the opportunity to come so close to the real stuff, it's absolutely moving and stirring. It's something that I personally relish and look forward to," remarked McDonagh.

The ceremony will begin at 12:55 P.M. Wednesday, or 7:55 A.M. Hawaii time, the time the attack on Pearl Harbor ended. The ceremony will take place in the memorial room on the U.S.S. Massachusetts, with remarks from McDonagh, and special guest speaker Master Chief Petty Officer Craig Cole, Command Master Chief of the U.S. Naval War College.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
