After an online sale goes wrong, a Rochester man is down an ATV.

Police say a 30-year-old Rochester man planned to sell his Yamaha four-wheeler to an interested party in New Bedford's South End. The transaction was made through Facebook and both parties were to meet up last night around 8 p.m. to make it official.

Unfortunately, that's not what ended up happening.

The Rochester man told police that when the pair met up he took the yellow 2006 Yamaha YFZ450 "quad" out of his pickup truck and placed it on the ground. That was when the so-called buyer shoved him to the pavement and fled on the ATV.

Now police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact New Bedford detectives at 508-991-6300 ext. 320 or leave an anonymous tip at 508-961-4584.

They also advise that anyone planning to make such business transactions via Facebook or other online sources meet up in police station parking lots to do so.
