Arrest Made In Murder Of Retired Fairhaven Teacher

A New Bedford man has been charged with killing retired Fairhaven school teacher Joyce Howland.   The body of the 69-year-old woman was found on October 15th in her Hamlet Street home in Fairhaven.

36-year-old Joshua Silva of Oak Street in New Bedford is charged with murder and armed robbery.   He is being arraigned this afternoon in New Bedford District court.  The arrest of Silva was made after a a criminal complaint was filed by the Massachusetts State Police.
