The parent company of Applebee's and IHOP says over 125 restaurants nationwide will close as financial struggles grow.

DineEquity, Inc released a statement on Thursday saying,

We are investing in the empowerment of our brands by improving overall franchisee financial health, closing underperforming restaurants and enhancing the supply chain."

What that means for restaurant goers is that about 105-135 Applebee's across the country will be closing and anywhere from 20-25 IHOPs will disappear as well.

The company declined to say which restaurant locations would be closing or when closures would start to take place, only adding

2017 will be a transitional year"

Between Applebee's and IHOP, DineEquity owns over 3700 restaurants nationwide.
