And New Bedford’s First New Years Baby is….

St. Lukes Hospital celebrated the first baby born in New Bedford in the New Year, 5 minutes shy of New Years Day.

Miranda and Justin Furtado welcomed their first child on Saturday, January 2nd at 12:05am.  Kendall Furtado weighed in at 7 pounds, 9.5 ounces and 21 inches long.  Mom and baby are doing great.

Kendall is only one of the three New Years babies born in the SouthCoast area hospitals.  Gloria Medeiros and her husband Peter welcomed their son Ryder Joseph just after 10am on New Years Day at Tobey Hospital in Wareham.  And earlier that morning in Fall River, little Preston James Hermenegildo was born at 8:45am at Charleton Memorial Hospital.  Mom and Dad, Gina and James of Marion, couldn't be happier!
