In the world of modeling, size matters.

It's not only about having the "look", it's about being thin.  Sad, but true.

I have some knowledge of the modeling industry because I was in it.  Back when I was about 18, after being told to give it a shot because of my height, I did.  It's fun, but it's a lot of work, a lot of stress, tons of pressure and not a lot of eating.  It's hard!

After a couple years, I decided that I didn't like anyone telling me how I needed to look, or what weight to maintain, so I decided that it wasn't for me and moved on.  I didn't have any bad experiences per se...I just figured out quick, it wasn't what I wanted to pursue.

(Sidenote: Omg, so I went digging for a photo, from the modeling era, this was the only one I could find!  Man, I look so young here!)

So that was my experience, and now this is Robyn Lawley's...

Robyn is a gorgeous 24 year old woman from Australia.  She stands 6'2" and wears a size 12.  To me, and probably plenty of other people, you wouldn't think a size 12 is considered "plus" would you?  Well, in this case, it is.  The average size for an American woman is a 12...AVERAGE.  In the world of modeling, that is considered "plus".

To look at this woman in the video below, you'd never think that she is a plus sized woman, right?  She's 6'2", she'd look sickly if she were a size 2 being that tall!

I wish the world of modeling wasn't so harsh on women.  It makes us feel like we're never good enough the way we are.  Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, not just thin!

Robyn has achieved so much in her career thus far, including being the very first "plus size" model to do an ad campaign for Ralph Lauren.  (RL usually hires size 6 models.)

I applaud Robyn for embracing her curves, being a positive role model for young girls and women and defying the odds!  You go girl!  An inspiration to me and many other women alike!
