Amazon inks deal in Fall River.

Good news for the South Coast. According to boston globe Governor Charlie Baker has announced that the internet retailer amazon has closed on a piece of property in Fall River that will serve as a one million square foot fulfillment center and could provide up to five hundred jobs for the South Coast area.

“We believe there is a strong commitment by the leaders in Massachusetts government to grow the economy and develop a top-tier workforce,” said Braden Cox, director of public policy for Amazon, at a press conference yesterday. “This commitment has attracted our continued investments in the state.”

 

Amazon has not said when the facility will open but expects construction to start soon providing important construction jobs to the area and it hopes the facility will improve delivery time in and around New England .
