Thousands of people will be coming into New Bedford next weekend for the 41st Annual Half Marathon. It happens on Sunday, March 18th at 11 a.m.

The 13.1 mile USATF sanctioned run through the streets of New Bedford usually attracts about 4,000 runners. Another several thousand people come into the city to watch the event.

Two-time Boston Marathon winner Geoff Smith will be making a comeback this year. Geoff and two of his children will be running the New Bedford course. The running legend still holds the course record after over 30 years. If that record is broken this year, there'll  be $2,000 in bonus money.

Several city streets will be closed to traffic next Sunday. For the course map, click here.  It's not too late for runners to register for the Half Marathon. You can do that right now at newbedfordhalfmarathon.com.
