One of the most famous characters in the history of television, J.R. Ewing of the recently revived series "Dallas" is gone.  Larry Hagman passed away Friday at a Dallas hospital from complications of cancer.   Hagman portrayed the Texas oil baron from 1978 until 1991 on the series, and again when it was brought back in 2012.

One episode of "Dallas" is the second most-watched entertainment show of all time.  It aired in 1980 and revealed the answer to the question "Who Shot J.R.?"   Only the final episode of "MASH" drew more viewers to any TV series episode.

Larry Hagman also starred in the successful '60's sitcom "I Deam Of Jeannie", where he played astronaut Tony Nelson.
