It's something only five states in the country allow patients to do, but a terminally ill woman's plan for her own death could bring change to the laws right here in Massachusetts.

Her name is Brittany Maynard and at just 29-years-old she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Given just six months to live, Brittany decided that when the time came she wanted to go out on her own terms. But living in California that wasn't possible. So she, her husband and her parents moved to Oregon where the Death With Dignity Act will allow her to end her life.

Maynard is very clear that this decision is NOT suicide. She says she of course wants to live, but with no cure for her disease is happy she at least has the choice to end her life without suffering.

Her story is amazing and her bravery to discuss everything she's going through in an online video for the non-profit group Compassion & Choices might leave you speechless.

Currently there are only five states in the country that authorize aid in dying. Oregon, Vermont, New Mexico, Washington and Montana are already on board with five other states contemplating the act, including Massachusetts.

Would you want the Death With Dignity Act to be passed here in our state? Do you support patients suffering from terminally diseases to go out on their own terms?
