It's called Da Vinci Si Surgical System, and it allows surgeons to perform precise, minimally invasive procedures.

This allows for much quicker recovery times for patients.   Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River has had the system since 2008, and now St. Luke's in New Bedford will have the program.

The hospital will host a public open house with the da Vinci robot Wednesday the 16th, from 7 a.m. unitl 4 p.m.  The public is invited to actually sit at the controls.
