One of the most beloved couple's in the history of film almost never was!

While the two gave such riveting and convincing performances as lovers in The Notebook, and even ended up dating in real life, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams didn't always see eye to eye.

A recent E! article sheds light on how the film's director, Nick Cassavetes, let it slip that the two, once, had a huge blow out that put the film in jeopardy.

Cassavetes claims that one day, on set, Gosling frantically approached him imploring him to dump McAdams from the set and pick up with a new actress. Knowing it was too late for that, Cassavetes says he employed a different tactic; a spur of the moment therapy session.

Apparently, in the session the two really had it out and started yelling and screaming at each other. When the session was over, however, Cassavetes says the atmosphere was better, although there were still bumps along the way.

I couldn't believe this story at first, only because I love these two and they're so darn cute together. I'm still pulling for them to reunite in real life. If their issues were that intense, however, bravo to them because I don't think anybody noticed. Their chemistry was scary good!
