In May of 2014 Roger Triantafilo posted a video on his Youtube Channel entitled "My Cat Saved My Son," and since then the video has been viewed over 1 million times.

In the video you see a neighbor's dog wander into Triantafilo's yard and attack his autistic son. The boy, Jeremy, was just five years old at the time of the attack, and was defenseless against the vicious dog. The family cat, Tara, witnessed the ordeal and immediately jumped in to save the boy and chase the dog away.

Now, over a year later, Tara is being recognized with the 33rd Annual National Hero Dog Award by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Los Angeles. They even scratched out the word “dog” from the award and wrote in “cat.”

"The selection committee decided that a cat this spectacular should be the National Hero Dog," Madeline Bernstein, president of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles, said.
