DARTMOUTH - An elderly man was hospitalized Wednesday night after an altercation with a would-be robber.

Dartmouth Police responded to the Hixville General Store at 790 Old Fall River Road at 5:07 p.m. after a report of an armed robbery.

When police arrived, they found the man who reported the robbery, an 82 year old store clerk, suffering from stab wounds. The injuries are considered non-life threatening and were received during a struggle with the suspect.

The suspect fled without any cash after the struggle with the clerk.

The male victim was transported to an area hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, about six feet tall, last seen wearing a camouflage hoodie and a bandana over his face.

The suspect remains at large. Anyone with information on the robbery attempt is asked to call Dartmouth Police at 508-910-1700.
